World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2007

April 20th, 2007 by Kenric

Last year my friend and I thought about entering the 2006 WSOP main event.  It would have been a nice experience but paying $10,000 for most likely a few hours of poker?

This year one of my non-financial goals was to get into the 2007 WSOP main event.  So I have been trying to get in by winning satelite tournaments.  A satelite tournament is a lower priced tournament in which the winning prize is entry into a more expensive tournament.

I’ve been playing these 40FPP tourneys which cost you 40 Frequent Player Points.  You get these points for free, sort of like frequent flyer miles.  I have a ton of them so 40FPP isn’t much.  I’ve also been playing $4 rebuy tourneys.

The winner of these low cost satelites gets entry into a $650 buy-in tourney where the two winners of that tournament get a prize package worth $12,000 including entry into the $10,000 2007 WSOP main event.

So finally last night after playing about 2 tourneys a day for two weeks, I won one of the low cost satelites!  I’m now entered in the $650 buy-in tourney for Saturday.  Wish me luck!

  2. Just one bit of advice- do not order really good pizza while you are hungry and really positioned to win…
