UBU50, I'm just trying to learn about creating internet traffic. I realize dot com is definitely better.

Lazyman, I realize I may get a call from the "Man" one day. My blog and this new site I doubt will turn into significant income. I'm going to use what I learn from this to launch something that won't be 'copyright infringing'

Ngifford, So far in a day I've found it exciting to log into Google Analytics and Adwords and check on my traffic. I also got my accounts on Amazon and BN and see how many clickthroughs, views, etc I have.

I'm not going to put my networth or cashflow on here. I commend PF bloggers for doing so, but it's not for me.

J, send me those ebooks!

For everyone, I'll post some traffic results and Adword clicks after a week. It's real interesting stuff since I'm a geek and love numbers.

UBU50,

K is playing off the energy of the trump/kiyo launch where the .com name is already taken. Yes, a cease and desist letter is probably imminent. However, I wonder how close the RK staff is paying attention. They shoulda reserved the .net and .org names to begin with.

I have a few ebooks for you K if you want em. They will speed the learning process up.

Either way, this is a pretty interesting idea, and I think it will be a great learning experience. Even if Donald and Robert release the hounds, it will give a lot to think about. Like how next time you could come up with a similar site and not infringe on copyrights (as LMandM has mentioned).

Good luck, please let us know whether this is working or not. BTW, have you thought of putting up your net-worth and income sources as many other PF bloggers are doing?

Yep, this one is just about guaranteed to cost you your $30. I'm not sure what your Adword CPC is for this, but with a return of all of .60 or .70 per product actually sold, I don't think there's a price Google will let you buy at that is low enough to actually make a profit... ;)

But, like you said, it's a cheap bit of education, and it gets you rolling with a little action.

It's too late for this now that you're already signed up with them, but Google offers up $50 worth of Adwords coupons to new advertisers all the time - search for "Adword coupon" and you can find one. You can also pick up some Overture (aka Yahoo) ad credits, to the tune of $100 - look for "Overture coupon" for this one. Neither are totally free signups (or someone would certainly figure out how to scam the system), but signup and put in at least $5 for the google and $30 (I believe) for Overture and you get the credits. It's a good deal if you were planning on signing up anyway...

I think it was Business 2.0, but they did an article on using Google Adsense to bring money via Amazon affiliates program. I had wanted to try it out like you, but I never got off my butt.

Are you concerned that the URLs you register may infringe on copyrights? I'm pretty sure that "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" belongs to Kiyosaki and I'm sure Trump and Kiyosaki have an agreement for the copyrights to "Why We Want You To Be Rich." They may never come at you as you are promoting their book (doing their work for them), but you if these are going to be significant portions of your passive income, it's not without risk.

It applies with Kiyosaki. I know people who have purchased every single book with his name on it, have the CashFlow 101 and 202 games, attended his conferences . . . and have never done a thing.

At least you're trying. Good luck!

Oh -- two points for you. You bought a "dot net" name which is harder to sell than a dotcom name (most people think websites are dotcom before they ever think dotnet). Secondly, it has too many words in it. Someone already bought the "whywewantyoutoberich.com" name. You bought the second choice name which could be hot if the original website (the dotcom) ever got hot -- but that remains to be seen.

Good domain names are easy to remember and usually end in "dotcom."

There are professional speculators who snatch up the great undeveloped names whenever they come up for sale. Your only real chance is in finding something they haven't found or making up a word (like Google) and buying it.

Hee! I bought a fabulous dotcom name (super easy to remember) and I'm still trying to figure out how to turn it into a great website. I have no tech experience but I do have a marketing/advertising degree and a lot of life experience in running B&M businesses.

Actually, I have two good dotcom names but one of them is far superior to the other if you are looking for just a general memorable dotcom name. I'd like to turn the great dotcom name into a website that gets a lot of hits. That's the part I'm having problems with.
