What do I do with the windfall of money from my blog
December 5th, 2006 by KenricBut first I decided to spend $31 on some new books from Amazon.com. I bought two books last night. The first book is Michael Crichton’s NEXT. I am a huge fan of Michael Crichton who wrote books such as Jurassic Park, Sphere and The Andromeda Strain. He is the only author who’s books I buy in hardcover.
The second book I bought was Trump Strategies for Real Estate by George Ross. I actually read about 1/3 of this book at the bookstore. Although this book has Trump in the title, it is written by George Ross, who is Trump’s attorney and advisor. George is one of the advisors on the show “The Apprentice”. This book is a very good read because it comes from the perspective of George instead of Trump. What I like about the book is that George will talk about a big deal that he did for Trump and a lesson or tactic used in that deal. Then he will illustrate how you can use that tactic in a small deal like buying a single family home.
I’m going to keep my Google Adwords campaign going for my sites. That will cost me around $16-$20 a month.
So with the remaining $70 I decided to use that money in some advertising to try to increase traffic to my blog and my sites. I want to experiment with advertising on blogs and other specific websites. Blog Ads runs ads on blogs only. The cost of the ad is determined by the blog owner. Blog Ads takes 30% as its commission. I looked at the cost of running some ads on some sites and I will definitely try it. On a low traffic blog, the owner charges around $10 to run an ad for 1 week. The ad contains both a graphic and text and is a fairly decent size. In fact, I may experiment with running Blog Ads for cheap on this site if it works out.

Usually what I do is just dividing the money into 3 parts. 1 for charity, 2 to reinvest in your business, 3 buy something to encourage me! The percentage will be adjust according to my objective of the month.
