Tucson fixer day #1

February 7th, 2007 by Kenric

I’ve also wondered why those “Flip this house” shows put such harsh deadlines on their projects.   They self impose a deadline of two weeks and scramble to make it.  I’m really hoping we can finish this flip in 2 weeks, but experience tells me it may end up taking 4.  So what better way than to use my blog to track the days.

Tomorrow morning we’re taking a trip down to Tucson to begin the work on the fixer.  We are meeting our contractor at the site in the morning to go over what we want done.  We’ve already had a crew there removing cabinets and cleaning up the yard.  They filled one dumpster and needed another already.

We also have an electrician scheduled to be out there.  The house has been vacant for over 2 years, so the city won’t turn on the power until an electrician verifies that the fuse box is still working.

After tomorrow, I’ll have a good idea on what this place is going to cost to fix up.  I’ll have some pictures to post too!

There are alot of unknowns that we couldn’t check without power and rain.  The big unknowns to me are the HVAC system and the roof condition.
