Katie,

You should be asking yourself, how can I afford an Elmo instead of wishing to afford one.

There are many ways you can afford an Elmo.

1) Buy 3 at a toy store, sell 2 for a $50 profit.
2) Buy 6 off of Ebay at $60, sell for $80 for $10 profit on each.

I just wish I could afford one for my son who is on dialysis. His birthday is Sunday and this is all he has been wanting. (they had one at his rehab facility and he LOVED it!)

When I saw the news story on this, my thought was it was the media trying to hype something that doesn’t exist, namely, a huge demand for these things. Everyone remembers the shortage of these things from years ago, but by now, the Elmo toy is pretty much passe. The idea of the toy isn’t new, there doesn’t appear to be a supply problem, and there is plenty of time left until Christmas. As the father of a 2 year old, I can tell you I feel no need to buy this thing.

The hype about these was that the production was limited to 2/3 of the standard run. As for ebay, I read that weekend expirations at evening times are the best. I have 6 elmos and I’m going to wait until December.

I wouldn’t count on Christmas sales for these. This is only September. The company will have a lot of time to manufacture more and ship them prior to December.
