Some interesting reads

I really like reading Timothy Ferriss’s blog.  Timothy Ferriss is the author of 4 Hour Workweek and his blog has some very interesting reading.  Here are two articles about changes that we can make to our everyday lives.

This first article is about a movement called Radical Honesty where you have tell the truth all the time.  Hmmm, let’s try it real quick.  I am writing an entry about interesting reads today because I can’t think of anything else to write about and I have no real estate or online money making news that I want to share.  I’m also sucking in poker right now and am embarassed to post my poker graph.  I can see how Radical Honesty could be a problem in everyday life.

This is a pretty long read which I found interesting but not practical. (There, I did it again!)

Radical Honesty

The second article is about acomplaintfreeworld.org who had a challenge to go 21 days without complaining.  Many people don’t realize that they are complaining about something because so much day to day talk is about something negative.

It’s like when I see my friends and I say, “The Bears suck.  They have no running game.”  Why is my conversation starter a negative?  Of course the normal response from my friend is, “Yeah you’re right, their defense sucks too.  The coaches are stupid, etc…”  So goes a whole conversation complaining about how bad the Bears are.

But once you realize you are doing it, it’s easy for you to stop initiating these conversations.  However, if my friend brings up the crappy Bears team, I will certainly agree.

Going through my past posts on my blog, I was amazed at how many negative or complaining posts I made.  I’m going to try to change that and make positive posts or at least tone them down and offer solutions rather than just rant.

So here is Timothy’s post on his blog about not complaining.  Enjoy!

  1. 2 Comments to “Some interesting reads
  2. Wasn’t there a bad movie about someone who couldn’t tell a lie?

And is it just me, or does anyone else look at the Uptown Studio ad in the upper right and think the two tags say “Ovulan Lust?” I have no idea what that means, but it sounds dirty…

  3. From time to time, I peek at Mr Ferris’ blog myself. His video on “how to tie a tie” was actually pretty good.

One aspect I enjoy is how he draws attention to building schools in third world countries. He is using the popularity of his blog for good causes and causes he believes in.
