Rent increase and Section 8
November 1st, 2005 by KenricI applied for a rent increase for my Section 8 tenant. Section 8 called me and told me that any increase in rent would have to be paid by the tenant, not the city. I asked why, because a few months ago they told me that my rent was about $50.00 below the max. rent for a two bedroom.
Well, I found out that the city has lowered its rent schedules for Section 8 so that I was at the max. rent already.
My dilemma is:
Do I increase the rent on the tenant knowing that she probably can’t pay it and force her out?
Do I leave the rent the same and wait until next year.

I decided to renew the lease at the current price.
