New house equals old house
April 27th, 2007 by KenricAccording to Murphy’s Law, the refrigerator only breaks when you’re out of town. I just got back from Sacramento today and grabbed a Dr. Pepper out of the fridge. It felt cool but now cold. I check the freezer and everything is defrosted and there’s a pool of water at the bottom. The fridge must have gone out yesterday. So it’s time to get a new fridge. I didn’t really budget buying a fridge this month but luckily Lowe’s always has a No Payment for 12 months plan.
So what else is wrong with the house? A whole bunch of little things which are just annoying but not major. I’ve got a ton of light switches that don’t turn anything on. I have a pool pump that pumps water to nowhere. The pool timer stopped working last week also. Can’t figure out how to turn the hot tub on. Can’t figure out how to turn on the landscaping lights.
What’s nice about new construction is that I could just make a phone call and the builder will answer any questions, come show you how things work and fix stuff, sometimes for many many years. With an old house, you’re on your own as soon as you close.
