More about the Ebook

December 11th, 2008 by Kenric

I’ve been working on this book just a week or so and it’s already getting too long.  I’m finding that I’m trying to explain way too much and the book loses focus and goes off on tangents.

For example, I start to talk about getting traffic, then I get into link building, I begin to explain why linking building is important, then I get into SEO, then I begin to explain SEO, and so on…  I end up with 3 pages on SEO and Google and am totally off topic.  I have to find a happy medium to stop my tangents.  Somehow I don’t like to mention SEO and then tell my reader to go online to understand more about SEO.   I’ll probably have to include some links to articles which I think explain SEO well.

That is just one of the many topics that can go on forever.  I have to stop or my book will become 200 pages long.  My book is about a niche ebusiness and it should be the core.  Now that I’ve realized that I will be keeping my chapters on topic as much as possible.  I’ll touch on a term and give a brief one or two sentence explanation and move on while giving references for further information.

I am enjoying writing this ebook.  It’s making me go back a year and relive my ebiz1 journey.  I am remembering things that I totally forgot about.  This blog has been great to jog my memory!

  2. Why don’t you take all this off topic stuff and turn it into an appendix, except publish it online and use it to help promote the ebook. That way you control the content that you link to from the ebook, and you have solid, SEO type pages, already written for promoting the book when the book is done.

  3. Hey Kenric. Awesome blog. I have been following for a while and have learned much from you. Is there any chance that your ebook will include information on choosing a product to sell and how to go about finding a good dropshipper? This has been tough for me and sure many others as well. Keep up the great writing.

  4. Hi Qbrain, your suggestion is a possibility. I will most likely have a bunch of references at the end. I may do a more detailed explanation but I will most likely reference other sites or even ebooks on SEO.

I’m not an SEO expert so I would just want to touch on it enough so that the reader understands the fundamentals and basics and can understand why I did what I did.

  5. Swolf – There will be a section on product selection or actually niche selection. I think that this is the hardest part of opening an online store.

  6. Bro – you might want to consider and editor for your book. You provide the content and the editor condenses it.
