Making money with Cubs tickets AGAIN!!!
October 1st, 2007 by KenricI have already posted about how I make money with Cubs tickets. This weekend was a little different.
The Diamondbacks clinched the playoff spot on Friday. Their tickets went on sale Saturday at 9:00am. However, we didn’t know who they were going to play until Sunday afternoon. You can always find Diamondback tickets because the stadium is huge. That is, unless they play the Cubs. The Cubs might as well call Phoenix their second home field.
So here’s the risk. If you bought the limit of 16 tickets on Saturday and the Diamondbacks ended up playing any team but the Cubs you had a 100% chance that you were going to be left with 16 tickets going for face value or less. If the Diamondbacks ended up facing the Cubs, you’ve just more than doubled your money.
Everything fell into place and the Diamondbacks are playing the Cubs on Wednesday and Thursday.
I didn’t want to take the big risk and purchased only 4 tickets in Section 110 for each game. I’m sitting on a potential $500 profit. However, since it is the playoffs and it is the Cubs, I decide not to sell them. I’m going to both games!
I made a mistake on these tickets. My postgame analysis shows that I could have spent $850 on 16 tickets on Saturday with at most $100 at risk.
My potential profit was $1600. What had to happen to get that profit? A whole bunch of complicated stuff. The Diamondbacks had to win, San Diego had to lose on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Phillies had to win, Mets had to lose and Colorado had to win. I would never bet on those odds (which is why I didn’t buy 16), however I forgot one thing. If the stars didn’t align right I think could have sold those tickets for face value or just slightly lower. Damn, that’s practically zero risk! I made a mistake not buying 16 tickets.
