Making money online – June 2007

July 6th, 2007 by Kenric

My online revenue had a drastic drop in June.  In May, I posted a profit of $269.  The traffic for this blog also decreased by about 20%.   In fact, I stopped concentrating on monetizing this blog last month and I started to just post about what I wanted to write about.  I’ve learned alot about online marketing from writing this blog.  I think it’s time I’ve used it to produce more than an extra few dollars a day.  One of the reasons I ran the contest was to try out some methods and see what results were produced.

But let’s take a look at the results for June anyway.  I had a direct advertiser pay $90 for 6 months in May.  This brought my May results up to $269.  If I had accounted for this $90 monthly, it would have only added $15 to my May revenue.  Then my May results would have been $194 instead of $269.  In addition, I would be adding an additional $15 to my June results.  So if I had done proper monthly accounting, I could say that my revenue is still increasing monthly.

Here is the breakdown:

  • Adsense revenue from this blog: $71
  • Adsense revenue from other sites: $18
  • Revenue from Amazon sales: $0
  • Revenue from Text Link sales: $41
  • Revenue from Payperpost: $69
  • Revenue from Kontera: $2

Total Revenue: $201

  • Google Adwords expenses: <$1

Total Profit: $200

Adsense revenue is dropping quickly.  My daily average is down by over $1 and I’m having some sub $0.25 days.  Adsense on other sites is up and down.  I’m not really doing anything on my other sites.  Amazon will probably continue to produce nil.  Text Link continues to increase and provide me a nice steady income.  Payperpost is doing pretty well, but you probably won’t see anymore of them on this blog (maybe one).  Kontera was bringing in about $0.50 a day but I had to shut it down because it was conflicting with my Payperpost blogs.  I will be turning it back on soon.

  1. One Comment to “Making money online – June 2007
  2. Using the accrual method of accounting probably would have been a better choice in terms of correct recognition of revenue and would have “smoothed” your income nicely :-) Good luck for July!
