Wait till the oil money runs out…

I think that they realize that their oil is limited and will eventually run out. Therefore, they are building their city to attract foreigners and to make it a vacation destination in the future. I think its a very smart and foward thinking move by whoever is running the show over there.

That’s awesome! I knew about the palm tree pennisulas and “the world” islands. But, that tower is incredible! I think they’re quickly becoming the “novelty real estate” capital of the world.

NO not oil. Oil accounts for less than 6% of Dubai’s GDP. Dubai’s amazing ascent has nothing to do with oil money. Dubai is a a major financial,technology and trading center with a major port and a government that has inacted extremely pro business policies such as tax free zones. Dubai is also the number one tourist destination for Europeans due to its close proximity. Add to the mix a booming real estate market and what you have is a diversified economy which is very attactive to business owners and employees alike.
