It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I forget what car commercial has that song as its catchy tune.  Maybe it’s not even a car commercial.  But it certainly is a great time to have an online store.  This is my 3rd Christmas season with my stores and it’s looking pretty good so far.  I have had about 60 orders this month already.  Most orders are coming on weekends. I have to admit that it’s a great feeling.  I woke up this morning and had 5 orders.  I ate lunch and had 2 more orders.  I got 3 more orders while at the gun range.  I  had 5 more orders as I watched Sunday Night Football.

Last weekend I had 33 orders and this weekend I had 25 orders.

I have learned from years past so I talked to my main suppliers last week to see if there were many products in danger of going out of stock.  They told me “no”.  One thing I forgot was to ask all my suppliers.  I only asked the two that I do the most business with.  My other suppliers I may order from maybe 5 times a month.  And of course, they are the ones who are missing stock this year.  Honestly, it probably wouldn’t have made a difference because if they told me they were low on stock, I probably wouldn’t have pre-bought anything anyway just because I don’t sell much of their things.

But still, it always sucks to lose money when you have orders in hand and can’t fill them.  I have a potential order that will cost me $125 in profit since my supplier doesn’t have it in stock for 3 weeks.  I’m trying to find a replacement item for the customer now, but it’s not looking good.

Still… It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Where’s the gun range? I can’t remember seeing any down there.

  4. I wish every month was December. I could really pay an employee this month. We have plenty of gun ranges here. Actually the desert is an open range. It is the wild wild west. Scottsdale Gun club is a very nice indoor range. But last week I went to Ben Avery Range which is outdoors. Their range goes to 200yds. I had to test out my Call of Duty skills on my AR15s and M4s. :)

  5. BTW, I did manage to save the $125 profit order. But I had to give up some profit to make it work so I only made $100 on it.
