How my Slingbox saved me $54.95 this weekend
May 6th, 2007 by KenricThis weekend was the bid De La Hoya vs. Mayweather fight. I really wasn’t planning on ordering it on Pay Per View, but I began to get tempted as fight time drew closer. Then it hit me… Slingbox to the rescue. I recently talked about my Slingbox in a post here. I called my friend who has my Slingbox and asked if he was ordering the fight and he was indeed ordering it.

So, I just logged on my computer and watched the fight. He was actually at a work function so he couldn’t watch it LIVE. He had it TIVO’d. This is where being able to stream your Slingbox to your PDA or cell phone would have came in handy. Can you imagine you’re stuck at a fancy work banquet dinner and you’ve got a Pay Per View fight on your cell phone?
Here is a screen shot of my laptop:

Isn’t this kind of like stealing? You didn’t pay to see the fight but you are bragging about getting it for free. I’m a little troubled by your moral values. I imagine this is why no one else has commented on this post. I don’t see anything admirable about this. You ripped off people who own a business. Do you plan to teach us how to rob banks next?

Lighten up Merfit…are you a boxing promoter or something? The promoters and the boxers made millions on that fight and charging the public $55 for that piece of crap fight was absurd. I personally don’t think it’s a big deal because folks still made their money. If you’re going to be so righteous, file a complaint against the folks who created the Slingbox….

And Merfit, if you re-read the post, you’ll find that his friend DID pay for the event and it was recorded. It’s no different than going to a friend’s house to watch it or going to a neighborhood bar to watch it. If his friend didn’t have a problem with it, then no harm, no foul, no ripping off. IMHO, this is not stealing, oh righteous one….
