Granite countertops and kitchen tile backsplashes

April 19th, 2007 by Kenric

Through the use of Hittail, I found out that the images from my guide to tiling a kitchen backsplash were getting many hits from the search results of tiling a kitchen backsplash and granite counters with tiled backsplashes

It occurred to me that many people are always searching online for ideas and patterns for their backsplashes.  Every time I go visit a model home I always take pictures of tile patterns and I have an extensive collection on pictures now.  There’s no sense in letting them sit on my hard drive any longer.

So begins a new series on my blog, Pictures of kitchen tile backsplashes.

This set was taken from a kitchen design catalog that I scanned

This is a relatively easy design with no difficult cuts.

  7. My question is where to find diamond-shaped tiles. I have been surfing for 3 days under all different search terms and have found only 2 diamond-shaped tiles . . . both stone. I would like a white polished ceramic or porceline for my all-white kitchen . . . doesn’t look like it exists!

  10. One of the hardest natural stone materials in the world, granite has been used for decades as flooring in public and commercial buildings. In the past few decades, it has gained a remarkable popularity for use in the home environment both as flooring and in other areas. Because of its durability and beauty, polished granite is one of the most popular choices for kitchen.

  12. We recommand granite Vs. Marble or silestone or anything. We have been fabricating granite countertops and granite tiles from more than 10 years for customers all over United States. As an owner of the company I recommand all natural stone should be cleaned using the following steps in escallations.
    1. Clean with Water.
    2. Clean with water with soap.
    3. Clean with tiles cleaner or soap which have no amonia, 409, etc.
    4. Get a cleaner and sealer from tiles supply company. They carry products that are specilized for stone finish enhacements.
    5. Get a sealer from StoneTech, we had very good success with products from this company.
    6. If you still have stain or dull finish, get an acid wash done and reseal the tiles.
    7. Second last option: Get a sand wheel, remove all polish, repolish and seal.
    8. Last option replace the tiles.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank You
