Grand Canyon
June 21st, 2009 by KenricWell it’s been a while since I made a blog update. The truth is that I’m having trouble keeping this blog up to date. I just haven’t been in the mood to update it lately. Maybe I’m just tired of being on the computer.
I just got back from a 3 day camping trip in the Grand Canyon. I did the rim to rim hike from the north rim to the south rim which is about 24 miles. I camped for 2 nights at the bottom of the canyon. It was nice to have no internet or cell phone access for 3 days. It was a tough hike and we were lucky because the weather which is usually 105-115 degrees at the bottom, was only 75 degrees and it was overcast. It started raining and got cold when I was about 2 miles from the top of the rim. I can’t imagine doing that hike in the heat, it would have taken me twice as long.
Leaving for 3 days made me realize that I need a plan for my ebiz stores when I’m gone. For this time I basically decided to process the orders once I got back and hope that nobody needed an order shipped ASAP. It all worked out. It’s always nice to go away for 3 days and still be making money.
My condo in Chicago was rented last month, but the HOA never got back to me on my rental application. That’s because my application packet has been sitting at the post office awaiting pickup since May 23rd. I sent it Priority Mail and have no idea why the USPS is not delivering it. I’ve talked to the HOA and they have to go pick it up at the post office. WTF??? Anyway, I talked to the building manager and he’ll help me fast track my application and get my tenant moved in on time.
The AC unit went out on one of my SLC townhomes. That’s another $650 down the tubes. The tenants are moving out in my other SLC townhome at the end of this month.

Sounds like a fun trip! Have you thought about trying to hire a VA to log in various times during the day and process orders?

Sounds like rents in SLC are deteriorating if both tenants moved. Are you going to hold these units for the long term?

Rents have dropped a little, but its still decent. These units still have alot of equity in them and good loans. I’m going to hang onto them as long as they cashflow.

Congratulations on keeping up your “Live” goals. Just found your blog through Shaun’s, through another. Awesome content. Pretty inspiring too. Keep up the good work.

Just from the way you asked, I don’t think it’ll be worth it.

Have you tried blogging and processing your orders on the go? You’ll need a smart phone or a communicator for that and of course some sort of internet access.
