Flipping Out on Bravo

August 2nd, 2007 by Kenric

I was watching the new show called “Flipping Out” on Bravo last night and I actually really like the show.  It’s another reality show about house flipping however the twist is that the main person is flipping high end homes.  The show is very different than Flip this House or Flip that House.

In the first episode they showed 4 houses that he is rehabbing priced from $900,000 to $1.4 million.  It’s amazing to see $1.4 million homes in total disrepair.  It makes you wonder what happen to the homeowner and how these huge homes in nice neighborhoods get into the state that they’re in.

Here is an example of part of the episode so you can see how different it is from the other shows. (don’t read if you don’t want a spoiler)

He found a home listed for $950,000 in a $1.5M neighborhood.  He called his psychic to see if she thought they sellers would take $800,000.  He gets the house and now he’s worried that the house won’t appraise for his loan because it’s in such bad shape.  So he sends a crew in the home to touch it up and fix minor things before the appraisal.

  2. I love Tori on Bravo’s “Flipping Out”! Before my husband and I got married, I consulted a psychic and – like Tori – she was right! ! Now, I visit psychics regularly. I hope Tori is a show regular – it is so interesting! I wonder what her next predictions will be?

  4. I still can’t decide about that show. It seems to focus a lot on his OCD, and his relationship with his employees borders on abusive. Hard to tell what gets edited out, and we get impressions that Bravo wants us to get.

  5. The show does seem to deal more with the people rather than showing the remodelling of the actual homes. But it does show a few things that a high end flipper does differently. For example, the fact that he has a bunch of high end furniture in storage for staging, instead of hiring a staging company.

  6. There is a part of me, aching to do a high-end flip. Just to scare myself senseless.

  8. Jeff, Have you ever considered Psychiatric treateatment and Medications such as SSRI’s like Zoloft for help with you admittef OCD? Take it from someone who can relate – yoe are so fucked up, you cant see the forest for the trees. You may make a ton of money but you are consumed with arrogance; narcisism; and childish selfishnessness. You are delusional – a pathetic looser who has the power to clam responsibility for yor life, yet chooses to blame other for you own short comings. Tou think you are playingbig, but you are playing incredibly small – you are a mere puppet – a joke. Therre is nodignity in playing small – it is an insult to who you truely are – stop you rediculous delusions of grandure and use the incredible light withing you to make a difference to actually contribute something positive to this world we live in – without strings attached. Touch your eyes and SEE; Touch your ears and HEAR; Touch you mouth and SPEAK the TRUTH; Touch your heart and DO THE THAT WHICH IS CORRECT ANT HONORABLE. Consult your spiritual advisors – YOU CANNOT DENY THE TRUTH I SPEAK – You will see me andhearme in your derams and you will know I speak the truth – Blessings beyond your greatest imaginings await you – the choise is yours dear one. Choose well.
    Be well.

  9. I’ve met Tori Hartman and she is great. She’s the psychic/intuitive counselor on Flipping Out. I hope we get to see more of her too.

  10. I love the show! It’s really got a great twist to it. He’s like a real life Adrian Monk.

I feel sorry for him, though, because he obviously has some self esteem issues. He PAYS his people to hang out with him. They really don’t do much of anything else. He just has them there to simulate close, caring relationships. But, in reality, they just want to collect their checks and go home.

  11. Nice post. I really enjoy your style. BTW, I run a House Flipping Article Directory and if you have some articles for distribution, you are very welcome to post them.

  12. Holy Smokes. I cannot believe the episode on August 14. Sure there is stress when it comes to working in real-estate, but I cannot believe what Jeff is saying about Tori. This is nuts. She is extremely gifted. I know for a fact that she has predicted many accurate things for him. Right now, it seems that Jeff is having a hard time giving ANYONE credit for how they help him. It really saddens me that Jeff is trying to discredit Tori after all she’s done for him. She’s not even there to defend herself for Pete’s sake!

  13. It seems like his show is going to have new people in it all the time. Something else must have happened between him and Tori off camera. I wonder if his assistants will remain with him for a whole season.
