Ebiz5 PPC campaign
December 3rd, 2008 by KenricIn October, I spent about $750 on PPC (pay per click) for ebiz5. This got me over 50 orders in a 15 day period. The problem was that with 50 orders and over $6,000 in gross sales, my profit was minimal due to the PPC spending.
In November, sales dramatically dropped and I was losing money on ebiz5. The PPC was bringing me alot of traffic but I was not getting any orders. I was dropping $50 a day and not receiving any orders. So I had to drop the PPC spending down to $15 a day. The problem with spending only $15 was that my ads were showing from 12am until my $15 was spent, which was usually like 10am. I didn’t want to invest more at this time. Google was telling me that $60 would ensure I had maximum ad views for one day.
I noticed that around evening time it seemed like the other competitors PPC daily limit was used up too. In fact, at 10pm none of my competitors’ ads showed on PPC. Only a bunch of junk sites were showing. So I changed my strategy. I scheduled my ads to show only 6pm to 12am. This made my ad show with less competition. I would be the only legit store on the PPC ads at night time and had a high chance of being clicked on.
Another benefit was that because none of my competitor ads showed, I could be at the top position for cheapers. Instead of paying $0.35 to be in position 1, I could pay $0.10 or less. Yesterday my PPC campaign spent only $5 and I paid an average $0.08 per click and received 4 orders. If I can keep my spending down to $5/day, this site will be very profitable.
Another thing that I did was target a couple keywords. Most people use a bunch of long tail keywords because you can bid very low for them. However, at $0.10 a click, I could afford to target only the main keywords. These main keywords seem to convert the best also. Instead of having a list of 100 keywords, I decided to just use the two main keywords. At $0.10 a click, $15.00 should get me 150 clicks a day which should equate to 1.5 sales.

Just track where your sales are coming from. . . . Dont be lazy and just implement keyword tracking. It takes 2 hours+ of work max and you reap the benefits on which keywords actually bring in sales etc.
