Ebiz updates

It’s been a few days for Ebiz#3 and I’m finding out that I’m not getting enough traffic simply through Google Adwords. I will have to add a blog to this store to get some SEO love.
Volusion says that they can set up subdomains but I’m having trouble doing so now. For example, I have www.ABC123store.com and I want blog.ABC123store.com set up. For some reason the URL is not working properly.
I am not sure whether or not I’m going to stick with Volusion or not. While its very powerful software, I chose it mainly for its simple one page checkout.
However, with my new experience with Elance on my Ebiz#4 I decided to put a small project on Elance for my Ebiz#1. The biggest problem I see with my Ebiz#1 is that my check out process is 4 pages long. There are just way too many clicks from the time a customer hits “checkout” to when the order is finished.
You can tell from my previous Google funnel post back in January how many steps are needed. The funnel picture on the left is from last December. I am hiring a developer to make it a one step process. It should go from “Add to Shopping Cart” to “Checkout Payment” to “Successful Order.” So once a customer hits the checkout button, the next button is confirm order.
The developer is charging me $200 to complete this and estimating 3 days. I think this is a great price and this developer submit some great examples of one page checkouts that he has done. Plus I only need this done once and I can use the feature in all my future ebizes.
After this has been up and running for a month, I post the before and after stats to see how many more conversions I get with the shorter checkout. I think it will be a significant amount.

I just got done talking with our developer on this exact same issue. The shopping cart is to be one simple page that does everything.
Every obstacle the client has to overcome in order to pay is one obstacle too many.

Have you guys looked at a new open source ecommerce platform called Magento? One of it’s main feature is one page checkout. I’m building my site around around this, since it’s free.

I’ll wait to read your result review. It is very interested case study for me.
