What to do on Super Bowl 2008 week in Phoenix Arizona

January 21st, 2008 by Kenric

Well it’s getting closer to the big week.  After my last post about the superbowl rentals market and about people not coming for the full week, I decided to check and see what there is to do for a whole week.  And there is alot to do!

In fact, there is so much to do that you just cannot possibly do everything.  You must pick and choose.  Many Super Bowl related things to do are insanely expensive.  Would you pay $1500 to play golf with a celebrity or buy a ticket for the Super Bowl? I thought I’d make up a “what would I do if I came from out of town for the Super Bowl” itinerary for the week on a normal person budget.

Monday night:
Dinner at
Pizzeria Bianco - Rated best pizza in the country by many.  Long waits, Reservations in groups of 6-10 only.  Is it better than NY or Chicago pizza?  You gotta try it and see.

Tuesday:
Hike Camelback Mountain - Why not go for a hike?  You’ve come to a winter getaway.  Go outside!  It’s a short 1.5mi hike with 1,200 vertical elevation to the top from the Cholla side. If you’re not in shape, hike up 1/3 of the way and get some great city views.  Here is a trail map.
Phoenician - When you’re done, visit the Phoenician and sit on the outdoor patio and relax.  In fact, if you went more than 1/3 the way on Camelback Mountain you would have seen the Phoenician from up above. (Don’t try this on Wednesday, there’s a big party over there)

Wednesday:

Visit the Phoenix Zoo and Desert Botanical Gardens.  See some animals and some tall cacti.

The Super Bowl Parties start tonight.  There are so many parties, it’s a matter of personal preference.  Prices have been dropping for these tickets.  Word on the street is that not many people want to fork over $1,000 to get into a party with sparse celebrities.  For example, there’s a P Diddy party and performance.  $175 just to get on the block, $1,000 to get into the club.  There are many cheaper parties asking $100 and under.

Poker Pairings Party - The pre party for Kevin Sorbo’s Celebrity Golf Classic.

Thursday:

FBR Open - Opening day of the FBR Open at the TPC in Scottsdale.  Only $25 for a general admission ticket.

Kevin Sorbo’s Celebrity Golf Classic - Golf with the celebs and hopefully win some great prizes.

Friday:

NFL Experience - At $17.50 for admission, it’s basically an amusement park for NFL fans.

Saturday:

I’m sure we can find something to do that night.  I wouldn’t mind going to see Chris Rock perform, but $750 is a little steep!

Sunday:

SuperBowl!!!
