The streak is still alive!
December 11th, 2007 by KenricIn the meantime, my site has been dropping in SERPs. My main keyword which was #79 back on November 9th, has dropped to #121. I think this had to do with last week’s site problem with sessions but I’m not sure.
In order to fix my session issue, I had to get rid of an SEO URL contribution. I’m using Oscommerce software which has stock URLs like www.my-ecom-site.com/p-13.html. The SEO URL contrib changed that to www.my-ecom-site.com/awesomegadget.html. Obviously, the second URL is better for SEO, but for some reason my site couldn’t hold sessions with them.
Right now, I’m spending $20/day on advertising. My original thought was that I would do that until I started getting decent organic traffic. But I’m realizing that even with high SERPs, I will continue to spend money on marketing. The Google Ads do much more than just show up on Google searches. They are far reaching into Ask.com, MSN, Dogpile and hundreds of other smaller search engines. I can’t see me discontinuing them even if my site reaches the front page of Google.
