My toothache
February 15th, 2006 by KenricSorry it has been so long since my last update. I woke up yesterday and my tooth was hurting, at noon I knew it wasn’t going away and I knew what it was. I had 2 root canals done when I was in high school. In early 2003 when I was on a plane I heard a pop come from one of my teeth. Everything felt fine but when I landed my tooth hurt like crazy. Later I found out that my old root canal was hollow and the pressure change in the airplace caused it to pop. So when I landed the increased air pressure on the ground made it hurt. So I had a retreat root canal done. During this treatment my dentist told me my other root canal would experience the same thing later. So yesterday I immediately knew what it was, problem was that I no longer have dental insurance. A quick search on the internet priced a root canal at $600! I did a search and no dental insurance would be able to start coverage right away so I chose to bite the bullet and go to the dentist ASAP. Without insurance you actually have to sign and pay for your procedures right away, the total cost was going to be $1700!!! That’s because in addition to the root canal you have to get a filling and a crown after. Luckily the filling and crown would be done at a later date. So I paid the $600 yesterday, signed up for dental discount plan (note: this is not the same as dental insurance) today for $99 a year effective in 2 days! This should save me $500 on my remaining two procedures! I’m still going to submit the root canal and hope to get 25% coverage on that.
In the past 2 weeks I’ve averaged about 1 showing every other day on the condos. One person even looked at them twice, but I’ve found out that he purchased another investment property instead. I’ll give it till the end of Feb. and then reassess my asking price.
My tenant in one of my condos is moving out in March, so I’ve decided to leave the condo empty and begin to sell it as a condo to be lived in.
I’m also contemplating selling my condo in Chicago. In fact, I’ve listed it on craigslist for $285,000. The condo is also up for rent for $1595. So we’ll see which one comes through first.
As for my lots in St. George, the new subdivision has been approved. A new paved road is required before construction of this subdivision. This paved road will lead directly to my lots. Also, there is a sign for the new subdivision advertising 1/2 acre lots for $90,000. This should make the my 1 acre lots alot more attractive. I’m also giving this until the end of Feb. to re-evaluate.
I guess I should mention that the reason I am selling my properties is that I’m trying to fund a business venture which may include purchasing a commercial property. Commercial properties require 25-30% down, so I need to come up with $150k just for a downpayment. Then I need to qualify for a loan and fund the start up costs!
