Design contests are great

June 9th, 2008 by Kenric

I mentioned that I had a new logo created for my ebiz#1 last week.  Well, I’m currently running another logo contest for a new site which has 65 entries so far.  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post the link to the contest but after thinking about it, I decided to post it for a few days.  If you are reading this and there’s no link, it’s because you’re too late.  If you bothered to go to the link, feel free to give input on the logos in the comments here.

You get some great designs from these design contest sites.  The two that I’ve used so far are www.99designs.com and www.designoutpost.com.  For a mere $39 a listing and a $100 minimum prize at 99designs you can have many designers designing for you.  And the turnaround time is very fast.  My contest received 35 entries within 6 hours.  Designoutpost does not have a listing fee and the minimum prize is also $100 for logos.

Check out some of the current contests and you’ll see some great looking logos.

  2. Great idea. You get a lot for $100!

Without knowing the mission statement of bluefire, its hard to judge the logos to your brand. However, keep in mind where you want marketing to go - if you are going to do print advertising, you might want one the fewest colors. If you are going with banner advertising, you will want a logo with minimal detail or that can be scaled down and still be memorable.

I’m impressed, they all look pretty cool!
