Busy Busy Ebizes
April 3rd, 2008 by KenricSo the past few days I’ve been trying to get my Ebiz2 up and running. I wish it was as easy as copy and pasting my Ebiz1 and just changing the product names. I didn’t plan ahead for that when I created my Ebiz1. But now I’m planning for that when I do Ebiz3.
When I have Ebiz2 up and running to a generic, simple, plain level, I’m going to make a full copy of it so that I can use it as a starting point for all my future Ebizes.
I wrote a post about a One Trick Pony a long time ago. It’s premise is that if you are good at something, keep on riding that pony until you can’t go any further. So with my Ebiz1 doing pretty well and me becoming an “expert” in that field, why should I stop there? My brother asked me why I don’t create more ebizes in the same field. Why can’t I attempt to take over that market? Well there’s no reason not to try. I mean I already know all the products, all the manufacturers, the markups, the market, the players. Why try to come up with 10 different ebizes in 10 different niches?
So with that said, I am going to launch another site that could be considered Ebiz1.1 but it will be really Ebiz3. I’ll be competing with myself, but this time I will be able to do a much better job from the start. I am going to brand my store and its products, get a real shopping cart solution and do it 100% correctly. I have the funds from the Ebiz1 to provide me the capital to launch this one better.

Good call. Fun to watch how you grow and adapt as you become increasingly better at what you do.
Like that first income property you bought, where you run the numbers and think, “Wow, rent is $1000 and PITI is $950! That’s $50 of cashflow!” Now you are talking about cap rates, repositioning properties, value plays, and preferred returns.
Good job, bro. Keep us updated.

I will be curious to watch how well you expand into 10 or even 5 niche businesses. Every time I have seen someone try to do it, they end up with one good business and a number of others that just take up their time. It is tough getting more than a couple up and running. Especially if you are selling an actual product and not a digital download where you can automate the entire process (except spending your money!).
Good luck with it. I wish you lots of success.

Interesting choice. Once ebiz3 is up and running it will be fun to see how ebiz1 and ebiz3 compare…
which one will do better from the start? What is the difference? Should give you some great market analysis.
