.ASIA Domain names
March 13th, 2008 by KenricAs part of building a portfolio of domain names I attempted to purchase a bunch of .ASIA domains last week. Dot ASIA domains were available until yesterday at 12am. They were available by a process they called Landrush. Basically, you apply for a certain domain name during this period and if you are the only person in the world who applied for it, it is yours for $20/yr. If they are multiple people applying for the same domain, the domain is auctioned off to all the applicants.
Since the Landrush period closed a few minutes ago, I do not know which domains I got, if any. According to the process, I should receive an email for each domain stating if I got it or if I’m going to auction shortly. I’m not sure when the email will be sent by I assume its within a day or two.
Unfortunately they make you pay for them ahead of time and you have to pay for two years. So if you went for 100 domains, that would cost you 100 X 2 years X $20 = $4,000.
Hopefully I’ll be able to get a few!

I applied for the domain that i have a trademark on , so should get it anytime now!
