$1,000 Poker Milestone
April 7th, 2008 by KenricShort poker post today. Just wanted to put a screen shot up from last weekend. I’ve been playing alot of $0.10/$0.20 at Cake Poker instead of Pokerstars.
My friend told me that the competition was easier at Cake compared to Pokerstars. Cake’s poker software isn’t that great. It’s got a bunch of bugs and they don’t have many tables to choose from. I don’t know if it’s easier than PStars, but one big benefit is that it’s got 33% rakeback. On rakeback alone I made over $100 last month playing at these really low stakes.
I took a few shots at $0.25/$0.50 this weekend. It didn’t seem much harder than my current level, but I need to increase my roll to at least $1,500 before I can move up.

Don’t know much about online poker. Rakeback?

Hi Al,
When you play poker at a casino, they take a small amount from each pot called the “rake”. This is how they make money on poker tables.
As an example, if there are 3 people in the hand and the pot is $100. Let’s say the casino takes 3% rake. That means that the casino would take $3 from that pot.
Since there are 3 people in the hand, each player contributed $1 to the rake.
Online poker sites give you some of that rake back, hence “rakeback” as an incentive for you to play at the site.
Since I get 33% rakeback at Cake, I would get $0.33 back for playing in this hand. This adds up over the course of 1000’s of hands to become a decent amount of money.
