Back from vacation

July 9th, 2007 by Kenric

Is it really a vacation when you don’t work?  I spent the last week in Durango, CO.  Below is a picture from the deck of the house we rented.  The house had cable TV, but the lowest amount of basic channels that I’ve ever seen.  No local channels, no news, no sports, only home shopping network and so other odd channels.  However, it did have HBO and internet.  We spent our days mountain biking, eating and watching HBO.

Even with internet, it felt like I was disconnected from the world for a week.  I spent a little time online to put a few blog entries up.  I played a little poker and lost some money.  But overall it was a week of not worrying about anything.  I had a few issues arise during the week but I told myself that I wasn’t going to worry or fix anything until I got back.  Well, now I’m back.

I had a rent check bounce from one of my tenants.  Since I left on June 30th, I deposited her check on June 29th.  Her check was post dated for July 1st.  On July 2nd, I got notification that it was denied due to NSF.  I talked to my tenant and her bank said it bounced because the date on the check was in the future.  Technically I did deposit it 2 days before its date, but how often does a personal check go through the system that quickly?  Anyway, I’m going to redeposit it tomorrow, no big deal except for a $10 fee.

The power in the Tucson fixer upper wasn’t turned on because the Tucson Electric Power company wanted an additional brace on our roof mount.  No big deal, it’s gonna be done tomorrow.

I’m working on a lease option for one of my friend’s home.  Showed the home to a couple today.  I gave them the terms of the L/O and they are thinking it over.

No news on my SLC townhomes.  With both tenants leaving at the end of the month, I need to get them re-rented or sold!
