They are targetting either irresponsible consumer/ couples or the ones who would not care in terms of their earnings being 20 times cost of such purchase or very high net worth. my feel is we have ample couples in former category. i do not have a problem in Lexus targetting them as in my view largest market for lexus is this precise segment. To be more precise more irresponsible couples or people buy luxury car than responsible ones or who value savings. So Lexus knows how to call on instant gratification emotions of these couples mindset. fool and money can not stay together long. If they do not give it to lexus they will give it to a luxury home, vacation or something else. It is a question of what you value.

I haven’t seen it but they probably just want to create a fantasy in people’s minds to make Lexus seem more desirable.

There are people who buy expensive cars as surprise presents but probably not enough to be worth targeting with a TV ad…
