Almost closing day on SFH#1
June 29th, 2006 by KenricI purchased SFH#1 on June 30, 2005. Unfortunately tomorrow is June 30, 2006 and if I sell tomorrow I have not held my property for more than 1 year. The rule is one year and one day in order to become a long term capital gain. Therefore, my closing needs to be any day after tomorrow. For some reason the title company won’t let me sign the documents early for my scheduled closing on July 5th. Tomorrow I am leaving for Colorado and I haven’t signed any docs yet. I will be somewhere in Crested Butte probably at about 10,000ft and 20 miles from the nearest telephone at closing time. I doubt my cell will work, but I’ll bring it just in case it does (I do have Verizon which has the best rural coverage). Hopefully I’ll get this worked out before I leave.
