General update

Thanks for all your replies on my life insurance question.  After reading them and thinking about it, it doesn’t make any sense for me to keep this policy.  The only I need to figure out is what the tax consequences are if I cash out.

I’m heading to Salt Lake City in two weeks to go visit my properties, talk to my PM, interview new PMs and meet my realtor and to go hiking at Zion National Park.  I think I have to fire my PM.  They just drop the ball way too much.  It was easy for me to keep them when both my places were rented but now that I have 2 tenants leaving at the end of the month, it’s a good time to make a break and find a new PM.

The last straw was that they did not have my property listed as available on their website.  I called them last week cause I didn’t see it up there.  They were supposed to put my property on their site in June!  So I lost 3 weeks of potential advertising.  Well at least its on there now.  If they get my property rented before I get there, then I may reconsider.

I will probably come up with a post later on about all the f&ck ups that they’ve had in the past 2 years.  It’s a shame that I’ll finally meet them in a few weeks only to fire them.

  2. Its business. I just fired my PM of three years in Colorado, a family friend. Despite trying to leave on a positive note, he was still pissed. Some folks work really hard to make you happy, but just dont have the capacity. Its a fair business decision based on results.

  3. RealOG, it’s gonna be tough to fire them. Of course my main worry is that the new PM would be worse.

Haven’t seen you at the gym on weekends, have you been going?

  4. Thats a good point. Don’t fire your PMs until you have found a new one ready to take on your property. Our property in CS is a doozy and not many folks are willing to manage it for us. We finally found one we liked and like us and pulled the trigger. So far so good.
