Turning $1 into $1,000: A Poker Goal - update #6

Crash & Burn - The Poker Train derails big time!

It’s been a week since my last update.  Well, I knew it was coming…  There was no way I could continue at the winrate I’ve had.  The derailment came last Saturday night.  Coming back from the movies at 2am I thought, I’ll play 4 tables at NL25 for an hour, make some bucks and go to sleep.

I proceeded to lose $75 in that session.  One stupid play can cost you the whole session.  I overplayed my QQ after the flop and lost $30 on one hand to KQ.  Then I proceeded to lose $25 with AK vs K8.  I should have just quit and went to sleep.  I woke up, got most of it back the next day.

Then in the next few sessions, I was just not concentrating.  How could I play to my best ability with the laptop poolside?  I couldn’t.  There goes another $50.

Now I’m in Cali.  Playing a few sessions but I’m playing scared.  The fear of losing more money has me playing tentative.  I can’t push, I can’t call, I just fold…  Time to bust out of this downswing.  I’m sitting at $253 right now, a far cry from my high of $383.

UPDATE: June 25th, 20,000 hands, $320. Got it back up to $380 then proceeded to lose $60 on two hands.

  2. Hey, are you playing online from the US? How/Where are you doing so? All the outlets I used to use have closed down to US customers…

  4. I play at PokerStars. They still allow US players. They pay you using regular check. No bank deposits anymore.
