2007 in review

January 4th, 2008 by Kenric

I was going to post about my goals and thoughts of 2008 today, but I think that a quick review of 2007 is in order.  2007 didn’t seem like an eventful year for me based upon my memory.  That’s what I love about keeping this blog, I can go back and see exactly what I did and what I was thinking when I did it.

Some of you have noticed the new category structure.  I have to thank RealOG for suggesting it.  I think it works very well with my blog theme.  In keeping with its structure, here is a look back at 2007.

Live
I tried to enter a few races this year. The Flagstaff Amazing Race was short but fun.  I got sick the before the Nighttime Adventure Race and didn’t participate.  My annual mountain biking trip was in Durango, CO.  Not as scenic as other parts of Colorado, but still very nice riding.  In August, I was able to hike the Narrows and Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park.

Learn
I learned alot about online marketing and SEO with a few experimental blog contests.  I took a run at poker trying to get from $1 to $1000 (still going, update to follow soon).  I opened up an online business in November which did fairly well during the Christmas season.

Invest
I picked up a fixer in Tucson that was suppose to be flipped in under 30 days which ended up taking over 250 days and selling at a loss.  I sold SFH#1 finally in April for a nice profit.  I’m glad I did as the market in that subdivision has dropped over $85k for my model home.  I finally moved into apartment building investing with a 125 unit building in Houston, Texas.

  2. Hey, Kenric! Glad you’re doing well! Hope you had a great New Year’s!

Would you mind educating me on the best places to play poker online? I’ve been curious for some time now. Thanks! Email’s fine if you’d rather not broadcast your response.
